Chapter: Administration
Latam setup
Latam - Legal Accounting and Matter manager
Latam data files (c:\latam)
Time line sequence numbers and system control
THIS IS FUNDAMENTAL. DO NOT SET UP A NEW LATAM USER WITHOUT FIRST IMPLEMENTING THESE STEPS
2. Obtain a new range of time line sequence numbers from accounts assigned to the new computer's name (ie its computer name set in the Network option of the control panel (under the "Identification tab"). In these instructions it is assumed that the new computer has been called “WS20”
3. The sequence numbers are set in the system control of Latam
4. In the system control:
(a) Enter the sequence numbers
(b) enter the computer name (WS20) under both
(i) Principal fee earner; and
(ii) Note I.D.
(c) be sure the the program path points to the office program directory (p:) for latam (p:\latcom);
(d) be sure the import/export path is set to f:\admin\lex
(e) be sure that “Central Computer” is set to “No”.
Merging logic
Mergenod.dat
5. This text file contols the merging of latam data. It is stored in the user's latam directory (c:\latam). It is via this file that a user’s time lines are transferred to the accounts department.
6. The office merge path is f:\merges. Create a directory (in this example) called
f:\merges\ws20.
7. Change mergenod.dat (eg with notepad.exe) to point to correct merge path for the user.
Example
%%$n1
%% Node ID Receive path Transfer path
%%
WS20 f:\MERGES f:\MERGES\WS20
