Setting up a client (work station) in Windows
Autoexec.bat and config.sys
Include a path statement as follows in Autoexec.bat
path=c:\notes;c:\notes\data;p:\cmds
If using Latam, include a line in config.sys as follows:
Files=100
User Account On Server
Be sure the name of the client is registered on the Server (MR_Server).
If the user you are setting up is brand new, you must create a user account for them on MR_Server. This is done using User Manager for Domains in the Administrative Tools submenu of the start menu. Follow these steps
1. Click:
¨ Start
¨ Administrative Tools
¨ User Manager for Domains
¨ User
¨ New User
2. Then and fill in the blanks which should be reasonably self-explanatory. Use the computer name (eg. WS20) for both the Username and Full Name fields, unless it is a solicitor in which case you can put their real name in the Full Name field.
3. Click "Password Never Expires" on, and "User Must Change Password at Next Logon" off. Click "Groups" and add the user to the MRUsers group.
Regional Settings Properties in Control panel
Regional settings
1. Select “English (Australian)” as the regional setting
- Short date format
2. Short date format MUST BE dd/mm/yy or dd/mm/yyyy – ie for example 01/07/00 or 01/07/2000. If you use, for example dd/mmm/yy then the date will print “jul” instead of “07”. The only identifiable problem caused by using this format is in the automatic billing of faxes and disbursements.
3. You must use a “/” as the separator

Network printers
8. Similarly you must connect to the network printers from Control Panel/Printers and "Add New Printer". They are \\whitestar\kyocera and \\amh\kyocera. The printer drivers are installed on the print servers and should be installed automatically. If anyone has problems printing to the Kyocera 3700, check they have the most up to date driver. The most up to date drivers can be installed by running p:\win95\kyocera3700\9xekpdlr (for Windows 95/98 machines) or p:\win95\kyocera3700\n4ekpdlr. There are also drivers for the 1500 there, but this printer shouldn't have as many problems.
