Map network drives
6. The next task in network configuration is to add the network drives N:, P:, F:, by clicking "Map Network Drive" in Windows Explorer and connecting
¨
N: to
\\galt\network$
¨
P: to
\\galt\programs$
¨
F: to
\\galt\office$
¨
Q: to "\\galt\masters$ (no longer in general use)
7. Solicitors should also have J: connected to "\\whitestar\cd_rom_j" and K: connected to "\\whitestar\cd_rom_k". You should be sure that you select the option to reconnect these drives at the next logon.
Network printers
8. Similarly you must connect to the network printers from Control Panel/Printers and "Add New Printer". They are \\whitestar\kyocera and \\amh\kyocera. The printer drivers are installed on the print servers and should be installed automatically. If anyone has problems printing to the Kyocera 3700, check they have the most up to date driver. The most up to date drivers can be installed by running p:\win95\kyocera3700\9xekpdlr (for Windows 95/98 machines) or p:\win95\kyocera3700\n4ekpdlr. There are also drivers for the 1500 there, but this printer shouldn't have as many problems.
Share local drive
9. Share the root folder of the user's C: drive by right-clicking it and selecting Share. In the window that comes up share the folder as WSX$, where WSX is the workstation ID. The password for full access should be 9WSX7 (where WSX is the workstation ID again). Other computers can then connect to the computer's C: drive by running \\WSX\WSX$.
